ABOUT MEDITATION

Meditation is the resulting state of clear awareness made possible through the application of techniques designed to redirect mental focus to a single point. When this focus is maintained for an extended period the mind becomes still and an underlying state of consciousness, spoken of as original mind or pure awareness can be witnessed and experienced.

In a practical sense, meditation is mind training. The activity of meditation involves cultivating non-attachment and establishing the discipline of focusing attention, at will. Through repeated practice, we master the ability to call upon these disciplines throughout all of life’s changes.

In a spiritual sense, meditation is a doorway to the inner sanctuary of the soul, where the direct experience of our true nature is available to us. This is the way to Self- and God-realization.

Benefits of Meditation include:

  • Reduced mental and physical restlessness
  • Greater access to calm, clear states of mind
  • Increased awareness
  • Restoration and regulation of a healthy nervous system
  • Ability to be less reactive in all situations
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Improved sleep patterns
